Not mandatory, various sessions. Students are assigned to session after check-in. No costs.
Course registration deadline
To attend the lessons students do not have to be enrolled in the courses but they have to show up in class when lessons begin. They must only register for the exams, they will have time to do this after their arrival. However, if they want to attend the Italian language courses, they must register before coming to Bologna. Nominated students will be contacted by us directly by mid-July and mid-December respectively with instructions how and when to register.

Do students apply for housing with their regular application or is it separate?

Are health facilities available at the university?
Non-EU citizens have access to the National Health Service only after paying an annual (calendar year: January 1st to December 31st) registration fee of €149.77. With a health insurance (purchased in Italy or in their country and stamped by the Italian Embassy) students may go to any General Practitioner, choosing one from the list of doctors published on the website www.salute.bologna.it . For specialist treatments, they can choose any doctor, also on the advice of your chosen GP. Students must pay for the visits to the GP and any specialists, and then apply to their insurance company for a refund.
